FAQ

What does it mean to “Adopt a Family”?

We have holiday wish lists for over 125 families and 95 displaced teens. These lists have the items each family member would like for the Holidays, including ages and sizes. You will receive a wish list for your adopted family and then you shop for the family’s holiday gifts.

How much does it cost to adopt a family?

It is about 100 dollars a person.

Can we meet the families?

We are sorry but no. The families we are helping are often in hiding and we have to respect their privacy.

I can’t adopt a family, how else can I help?

We always welcome donations and gift items. Gift cards are a great way to help. The mothers and children really appreciate them. We really encourage people to do our stocking program during the December Holidays. We are able to help thousands that way.

Can I come to the shelters or centers and deliver the gifts?

Because there are very important safety and confidentiality issues, and rules set by the shelters, unfortunately we are unable to allow anyone to deliver gifts to the shelters. The board members of the Friends and Helpers Organization provide a full Holiday Season Party for each shelter, including a huge holiday feast, pictures with Santa, and holiday presents that appear to come from Santa or the parents.

Can I donate used items?

For the December Holiday Season, we are asking for new items only.
