Friends & Helpers is giving to children's shelters all over Southern California. Backpacks will be going to Southern California Public School Kids. We need your help filling them with new school supplies to prepare them for the 2010 school year.

Back To School Event / Aug. 20th
- Friends & Helpers will be collecting items throughout summer for children who need school supplies.
- If you would like to drop off donations, please click to find locations nearest you. Peet's Coffee and Floyd's Barbershop have helped set up Donation baskets at their locations. Our upcoming Back To School Backpack filling day is located in Tarzana Community & Cultural Center.

We are also collecting items for the children's upcoming school year. Those items that are on our list will be placed into separate backpacks at our upcoming Back To School Backpack Filling Day located in Tarzana Cultural Park.

- The founders of Friends and Helpers pay for all overhead costs in order for 100% of the donations to go directly to the people who need it. We have core volunteers who help out in our offices, provide website development, work on special events and pitch in year after year.
- How To Help
- During the year, we throw events to help children and sheltered families. To get ready for these events, we ask if you, or anyone you know can help us with the items necessary to make each event complete for many families in need in California and New Orleans. We are currently working on our Back To School events and would like anything for Summer Camp or School Supplies.
- Founder’s Message
- Friends and Helpers was started in 1992 in Southern California. Our Founder herself learned during her first marriage that being abused robs you of self-esteem, and often those closest to you don‘t have any idea what you are experiencing. There are no glamorous events or celebrity-attended dinners to raise money for those abused. Survivors of abuse are often forgotten and they are left alone to somehow tear themselves out of that situation without help.
